Wisteriax is Karen S. Langlie on cello, loops, electronic effects, and other objects. The music and sounds are improvised, making each recording and live set unique. Karen began cello lessons at the age of 8. In the early 1990's, she wandered astray of her classical training to experiment with stomp boxes and amplification. Eventually, she added loops and other devices to the mix, to stretch the boundaries of the cello's sonic pallette. Karen is a member of BostonNoise.org, and the experimental music collectives Tapeworm and Infinite Sector. She has contributed electronically altered cello to many artists globally. The first full length Wisteriax release, Static Voyage, was recorded for a sculptural sound installation displayed at Burning Man 2003, and can be downloaded for free at the Infinite Sector website.
